| | POP3
and IMAP4
The
POP3 / IMAP4 settings dialog allows you to modify the behavior of both services.
Below is a list of what each control means and how you can use it. Port
- This controls
the port for which incoming connections will be accepted for each service. Please
note that it is strongly recommended you do not change these values. The standard
POP3 port is 110 and standard IMAP4 port is 143, some mail clients may not allow
you to change what port they connect to. However, if you are using ICS, a router
or a firewall then you must ensure that the port forwarding listens on port 110
and 143 and forwards to the port values specified here. Max
Simultaneous Connections - This controls the maximum simultaneous connections
for each service. These values are normally automatically generated by the setup
wizard. However, if you wish you can adjust them manually. Please note that rerunning
the wizard will overwrite any changes you make to these values. Do
Not Block 'winmail.dat' on Uploads - This control will help prevent a common
problem faced by Outlook users when attempting to upload a mail into their account.
Since most configurations of Ability Mail Server block dat files, and often Outlook
inserts a winmail.dat attachment, enabling this option will ensure dat files can
still be blocked but also ensure IMAP4 still works correctly. - Listen
Only on IP - This
allows you to bind the listening port to a single IP address. If an host name
is provided then it will be converted to an IP address which will then be used
for binding.
