Main Dialog and Status
The main dialog offers an informative and easy to use facility which allows you to view the current status of the mail server, as well as giving quick access to all areas of the program.

Current Status
There are 7 pieces of information on display, each one highlighting a different part of the program. The first displays the overall state of the mail server, and also shows the number of undelivered outgoing mails. This number represents any queued outgoing mails which are still awaiting delivery. The second line of information is the current state of the outgoing mail engine, displaying the number of outgoing connections and the total volume of data flow in KB's. The rest of the lines represent each other service, displaying the number of incoming connections and the volume of data flowing in or out.

Controls

There are five or six buttons (depending on your setup) located on the main dialog, the actions of which are described below...

  • Activate - This kicks the mail server into life, loading each subsystem and opening any ports. If an error occurs in any part of the mail server during activation, then the activation will fail and all subsystems will be restored to the deactivated state.
  • Deactivate - This unloads all the subsystems and restores the mail server into the deactivated state. Please be aware that deactivating the server will shut down any current connections in all subsystems. This may unfortunately hinder any current mail transaction. However, usually mail transactions will retry again at a later time.
  • Setup - This opens the settings control dialog which gives full access to the setup wizard, accounts control and all other settings.
  • Hide - This hides the main dialog from view, double clicking on the icon in the system tray will restore the main dialog.
  • Start NT Service - If you have enabled 'Run as a NT Service' option in the General Settings you will now be able to see this extra button. By selecting this you can put Ability Mail Server in NT Service mode without the need to reboot.
  • Help / Enter Key / Update - This button opens up the help dialog which allows you to gain easy access to this website, update your version of the program (only available in the full version) and control your license key.
