Mailing Lists
Mailing lists give you the power to create a single email address which will convert to multiple addresses. These addresses can be a combination of both local and remote accounts. You can also set a mailing list to deliver to all accounts from selected User Groups.

  • Email Address - This is the email address which the mailing list will react to. This address cannot exist in any of the local accounts or as the name of another mailing list.
  • Deliver To: Email Addresses - These can be local or remote email addresses. These can also include the email addresses of other mailing lists, which would then allow you to create nested mailing list structures (eg. a mailing list could be a combination of 2 other mailing lists).
  • Deliver To: Groups - You can direct the email towards all accounts which are part of these groups.
  • Accessible On Incoming SMTP - If you want your mailing list to be publicly accessible by anybody then you can enable this. Otherwise, if this disabled, only emails received via the Outgoing SMTP and WebMail facilities will be eligible for use of this mailing list address.
  • Enable This List - This allows you to temporarily disable the mailing list.

Please Note: The mailing list rules are applied to the incoming mail before the domain mapping rules. This means that addresses added to the email as a result of the mailing list rules are still effected by the domain mapping rules. If any of the email addresses in the email are effected by the domain mapping rules then the email is then reprocessed against the mailing list rules. This cycle will continue up to 200 times or until the email is no longer effected by either the mailing list rules or the domain mapping rules. This makes Ability Mail Server very flexible and also gives you the option to create very complex mail routing paths if required.
